Sony has revealed the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for March, and it brings a stacked lineup of games for PS5 players. Leading the charge is UFC 5, EA Sports‘ latest entry in the mixed martial arts franchise, alongside Ubisoft‘s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. While the additions are strong, one trend continues – PS4 owners are missing out, again.
For fans of hard-hitting MMA action, UFC 5 is a massive addition to PlayStation Plus this month. Built using EA’s Frostbite engine, it brings more realistic combat than ever, with fully animated facial damage, doctor stoppages, and a deeper career mode. The game also introduces Real Impact System, which allows fighters to sustain injuries that affect their performance, adding a strategic layer to fights.
However, there’s one major issue – PS4 players have been left out entirely. Unlike past UFC games that launched on both generations, UFC 5 is a PS5-only title, which means PlayStation Plus subscribers still using a PS4 won’t get access. This continues a frustrating trend, as Sony has increasingly sidelined its last-gen user base when it comes to high-profile additions to PS Plus.
EA Sports’ UFC 5 is the most visually detailed entry in the franchise yet, delivering realistic physics-based strikes, enhanced ground game mechanics, and an improved submission system. Fighters take visible damage, with cuts and bruises developing over time, influencing gameplay in a way that makes every match feel different.
The game also includes a revamped online mode, allowing players to compete in ranked matches with more matchmaking balance, and features a career mode with deeper fighter progression. It builds upon the solid foundation of UFC 4, but with a sharper focus on realism and moment-to-moment fight tactics.
PS5 keeps winning on PlayStation Plus, but PS4 players are missing out. Sony continues to push PlayStation Plus as a key service for PS5 users, but at the cost of PS4 owners, who are now regularly excluded from major monthly additions. The absence of a PS4 version of UFC 5 is another sign that Sony is prioritizing next-gen players, even though millions of gamers are still on PS4.
